Short Introduction

M. Emran Hossain is currently an Associate Professor of Law at City University. Mr. Hossain has been awarded with a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Law (Ph.D.) by the National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata, India (specialized Law University). He has completed 2 years LL.M programme with Silver Jubilee Merit Scholarship from South Asian (SAARC) University, New Delhi, India. He is a Researcher of repute with several academic research papers to his credit in both home and abroad. Mr. Hossains’ research focuses on various aspects of Human Rights, with particular emphasis on consumer, law for water, gender and race issues, commercial law etc. He has authored several books including Legal History of Bangladesh, Law of Consumer Rights and Protection in Bangladesh (Provisions and Procedure). He has presented his academic papers in numerous national and international conferences. Mr. Hossain has been appointed as a member of the Board of Ph.D. thesis Examiner of ISBM University, Chhattisgarh, India. He teaches International Law for LL.M. Programme and Criminal Procedure, Equity and Trusts, Law Torts and Consumer Protection for LL.B (Hons.) Programme at City University. Mr. Hossain is also acting as Provost (Halls of Residence), City University. Apart from being an academic, Mr. Hossain has been enrolled with Bangladesh Bar Council as an Advocate of Supreme Court of Bangladesh.

Teaching experience

Mr.  Md.  Emran  Hossain  started  his  career  as  a  Lecturer  of  Law  at  City  University  on  April  01,  2014.  Later  on  he  was  promoted  as  Assistant  Professor  at  the  same  University  on  01  April,  2019.  Mr.  Hossain  is  now  serving  as  an  Associate  Professor  of  Law  at  the  same  university  with  effect  from  July  01,  2023.

Research Interest

Mr.  Md.  Emran  Hossain’s  research  is  focused  on  consumer  protection.  The  research  of  consumer  protection  attempts  to  critically  examine  the  origin  and  development  of  this  part  of  consumer  protection  since  the  pre-historic  and  ancient  periods  and  it  also  ex
