Md. Abu Darda Shahan, an experienced Horticulturist in Agricultural Research Industries of Bangladesh, is currently a faculty member of City University. Having more than four (04) years of research knowledge, he has demonstrated a history of succeeding as a Horticulturist in the agricultural sector. Before joining as a faculty member here he was working as a Scientific Officer at Touching Souls International Inc. in Medicinal Plants Research & Development division for about six (06) months. Where he was performed multiple tasks such as Research on plant physiology and ecology, PGRs biosynthesis pathways, Sustainable yield of fruits and vegetables using PGRs and the application of trace elements, Adaptation strategies against stress (biotic and abiotic) using antioxidants from medicinal plants, impacts of medicinal plants extract on plant pathogens to control and soil microbial activities, Influence of medicinal plant extract on PGRs signaling, receptors and functionalities. Also working as a Research Associate for about two (02) years in the Department of Horticulture performed following experiments like Conduct research on Plum (Prunus domestica) propagation using PGRs (GA3), Worked on Blackberry post grafted success and survival of different ages of scion used, Indian olive genotypes morphological characterization and nutritional evaluation, Indian blackberry germplasm characterizations, Sweet potato growth and yield on different spacing, planting dates and varieties. He is passionate about advancing the field through innovative research and impactful teaching. He aspires to equip students with the skills needed to address contemporary agricultural issues, including the impacts of climate change and food security. He is committed to inspiring the next generation of agricultural scientists and practitioners through his teaching and research efforts. His goal is to advance scientific understanding and improve agricultural outcomes for the benefit of our country by achieving higher degree in my research interests. Additionally, he has firm knowledge on Modern Biotechnological Improvements in Horticultural Crops, PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) run, Gel Documentation, Tissue culture and along with Minitab® and R Statistical analyses. By integrating his research and teaching, He aims to create a synergy that positively impacts both students and the nation. His career will be dedicated to educating, inspiring, and advancing the field of horticulture to address global as well as national agricultural challenges effectively.
